Margins of errors
It is important to remember that the data which has been used to establish these dose-effect relationships comes with substantial error margins attached. This graph represents the principal data sets currently available, taken from the irradiated survivors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The error bars show that at every point, the real risk value has a 70% likelihood of falling somewhere between the edges of the bar. We can thus see that at small dose values the potential errors are so great that it is impossible to explicitly identify any one of the three proposed models.
